Gazebo Builder in Longview, WA
Longview was laid out as a planned city, and the thing that means for a gazebo is space. The older neighborhoods came with real yards and the trees planted a hundred years ago are full grown now. A gazebo is one of the few structures that actually earns its footprint in a yard like that, because it gives you somewhere to sit in the shade that is not the back of the house.

A gazebo is a freestanding building, and that is the part people underestimate. There is no house carrying half the load. Everything stands on its own posts and its own footings, the roof has to shed water on every side, and the framing that holds a hip or an octagon together is real carpentry. Done right it lasts thirty years. Done fast it racks, sags at a corner, and starts leaking where the hips meet.
The flat ground through most of Longview makes the footing work straightforward, which means the money goes into the structure instead of into fighting a slope. The bigger question is where it sits. Near the house it becomes an extension of the living space. Out in the yard by the trees it becomes a destination you actually walk to. Those are different buildings and it is worth deciding before anything gets ordered.
Roof style drives the whole job. A hip roof reads formal and is the harder build. A gable is simpler and sheds hard weather well. An octagon is the classic and it is all cuts. Skylights or an open cedar ceiling change how it feels underneath more than anything else you can spend money on, and both of those get decided at framing, not after.
This is drawn before it is built. Post spacing, beam size and rafter layout come off the plan, not off a guess, and a permit application needs a drawing anyway. When you hire me you get me. I have been doing this thirty years, I am on the job every day, and I am the one accountable to you when something needs a decision. Electrical goes to licensed trades. The carpentry is mine.

Send me the size you have in mind, roughly where in the yard it would go, and a couple of photos of the space. I will come back with a scaled sketch so you can see it before you spend anything.

Gazebos & Covered Structures questions in Longview
How much does a gazebo cost to build in Longview, WA?
Size, roof style and ceiling detail drive it. An octagon with a cedar ceiling and skylights is the high end. A square or rectangular gable is the simplest build. A kit from a big box store is cheaper, and I can set one on proper footings, but most of what I build is custom and drawn to the yard. Send me the size and a photo and I will give you a written number.
Do you build patio covers and covered patios, or only gazebos?
Both. An attached patio cover ties into the house roof or wall and I build metal, shingled, clear-panel and pergola styles. A gazebo stands on its own. Which one fits depends on where you want to sit and what you want to look at, and I will lay out both.
Do you build pergolas in Longview?
Yes. An open pergola takes wind rather than shedding it, so the posts and footings get sized for uplift. Over a deck, the posts have to land on framing built to carry them.
Do I need a permit for a gazebo in Longview?
Small detached structures under 200 square feet often do not need a building permit, but zoning setbacks still apply. Anything bigger, or anything with power run to it, does. I confirm that at the sketch stage.
Can you put a gazebo on an existing concrete patio?
Sometimes. A patio slab is usually four inches and not built to carry roof posts, so the post locations get checked and footings get cored or cut in where they need to be. That is a site visit question.
