Siding Contractor in Longview, WA
Siding contractor working Longview. Siding is the job where the part that fails is the part nobody can see. If the wall behind it was not built right, it rots, and you find out years later when the siding comes off.

Longview was laid out as a planned city and most of the housing went up between the 1920s and the 1950s. A re-side on a house that age almost always turns up something once the old material comes off. Rot at the bottom of a wall, a window that was never flashed, sheathing that has been wet under a bad gutter for a decade. That gets found and corrected while the wall is open, because covering it is how you pay for the job twice.
What actually keeps water out of your house is not the siding. Siding is the first line, and water gets past it eventually on every wall ever built. The weather barrier underneath is what protects the structure, and on houses this age it is often torn building felt or nothing at all.
We use WeatherSmart house wrap and install it the way the manufacturer requires, because their representative trained us on it directly. He also comes out and checks the wrap on each job before any siding goes on. Once the siding is up nobody can inspect what is behind it, so that visit is the only chance anyone gets to confirm the wall was built correctly. Properly installed wrap carries its own warranty separate from the siding warranty over it.
Over the wrap we install James Hardie fiber cement lap. It does not rot, insects have no interest in it, and it holds paint far longer than wood does. It costs more than vinyl and it is heavy, and installing it right takes proper cutting and fastening, which is exactly the part you cannot see from the street on day one.
Trim is where a siding job is won or lost. Corners, window and door surrounds, the transitions where two planes meet, the joint at the bottom of a wall. Those are the places water finds a way in and they are the details that get rushed on a job priced to be cheap. A wall of siding installed well with sloppy trim is a wall that will leak.
When you hire me you get me. Thirty years, on the job every day, and I am the one accountable to you when the wall opens up and something has to be decided standing right there.
Save yourself the wait
Send me photos of each elevation and a rough size on the house, and I will come back with a real read on what the job takes. If you already know about a soft spot or staining somewhere, say so.

Siding questions in Longview
How much does siding replacement cost in Longview, WA?
Square footage of wall, how much trim and how many openings, and what turns up when the old siding comes off. Rot at the bottom of a wall or an unflashed window gets repaired while it is open, and an honest bid says what gets checked and the range. Send photos of each elevation and a rough size for a written number.
Do you install James Hardie fiber cement siding?
Yes. Hardie lap over WeatherSmart house wrap, installed the way both manufacturers require. The wrap rep inspects the wall before any siding goes on, which is the only chance anyone gets to confirm it was built right.
Can you replace cedar shake siding with fiber cement?
Yes, that is the most common re-side I do. Shake comes off down to the sheathing, the wall gets repaired and wrapped, and Hardie lap goes on with full trim detail.
Do you do siding repair, or only full replacement?
Both. Replacing split battens, a rotted bottom course, or the siding on one weather side is a regular job, along with full re-sides.
Do you install board and batten siding?
Yes, and I also repair and reseal existing board and batten. Split battens get replaced and the whole building gets resealed so it stays that way.
