Gazebo Builder in Vancouver, WA
The older lots in Vancouver are deep and narrow, which is the shape that makes a gazebo worth building. The back half of a lot like that is usually the part nobody uses, and a freestanding structure turns it into somewhere you actually walk to instead of somewhere you look at from the kitchen window.

The mature trees those neighborhoods are known for are both the reason to build and the thing that complicates it. Shade is what makes the spot worth sitting in. Root systems are what you are setting footings into, and a gazebo puts its entire roof load onto a handful of posts, so a footing bearing partly on a root and partly on soil is a settling problem waiting to happen. Where the posts land gets adjusted around what is actually in the ground, and that is found by digging, not by guessing.
On a small lot, setbacks decide more than you would expect. A detached structure has its own distance requirements from property lines, and on a narrow lot the spot you had in mind may not be a spot you are allowed to build. Small structures are sometimes treated differently than large ones for permitting purposes, but the zoning side applies either way. That gets confirmed before a drawing gets finalized, not after you have bought material.
Size is the decision people get wrong. On a deep narrow lot a large gazebo eats the whole back yard and stops being an escape. Something smaller, placed at the end of the lot with a path to it, works better than something big pushed against the house. Roof style follows from size. Hip reads formal and is the harder build, gable is simpler and sheds hard weather well, octagon is the classic and it is all cuts.
An open cedar ceiling or skylights change how it feels underneath more than anything else you can spend money on, and both get decided at framing rather than after. If you want power out there for lights or a fan, that gets planned at the same time and it goes to a licensed electrician. The carpentry is mine. Thirty years, on the job every day, accountable to you when something needs a decision.
Save yourself the wait
Send me the size you are thinking, where on the lot it would go, and a couple of photos including any big trees near the spot. I will come back with a scaled sketch so you can see it before you spend anything.

Gazebos & Covered Structures questions in Vancouver
How much does a gazebo cost in Vancouver, WA?
Size, roof style and ceiling detail drive it. On the older deep-narrow lots a modest gazebo at the back of the lot with a path to it works better than a big one against the house. Send me the size, where on the lot it would go, and a photo for a written number.
Do you build patio covers in Vancouver?
Yes. Attached covers in metal, shingled, clear-panel and pergola styles, tied into the house roof or wall. On a small lot a cover is often the better answer because it uses the structure that already exists.
Do you build pergolas and covered outdoor kitchens?
Pergolas, yes, and covered patios with room for an outdoor kitchen underneath. Power and gas get planned at framing and go to licensed trades.
How close to the property line can I build a gazebo in Vancouver?
A detached structure has its own setback from the line, and on a narrow lot the corner you had in mind may not be a legal spot. I confirm that at the sketch stage, not after material is bought.
Do you serve Hazel Dell, Salmon Creek and Orchards?
Yes. All of Vancouver and the unincorporated Clark County neighborhoods around it, plus Battle Ground and Ridgefield.
