Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling in Longview, WA
A kitchen and bath remodel in Longview is usually an older-home job. Most of the kitchens and bathrooms here are in houses built between the 1920s and the 1950s, and remodeling one of those is a different job than remodeling something built last decade. The layout you want is usually not the layout the house was built for, and what is behind the wall decides how far you can go.

Kitchens in houses that age were built as closed rooms with a door, because that is how people cooked then. Opening one up to the dining room is the most requested change and it is also the one that has to be answered honestly, because some of those walls are carrying the roof and some are not. That is not a guess you make with a sledge hammer. It gets figured out first, and if it is bearing then a header and posts carry the load and the wall still comes out. It just costs what it costs.
Bathrooms in these houses are small by modern standards and were tiled over plaster and lath. Original supply lines are often galvanized, which closes up from the inside over decades, and drains may be cast iron. None of that is visible until the wall is open, so the honest way to price one of these is to tell you up front what gets checked and what the range is if it turns out the plumbing needs replacing. A bid that pretends to know before anything is open is not a real bid.
Subfloor is the other thing that shows up. A toilet that leaked quietly for years, or an old tub set without a proper pan, and the floor under it is soft. Tiling over a bad subfloor is how tile cracks in the first year. It gets cut out and replaced before anything goes down.
Electrical and plumbing go to licensed trades and they get pulled in where they are needed. The carpentry, the tile and the running of the job are mine. I have been doing this thirty years and I am on the job every day, which on a remodel matters more than on new work, because a house this old will hand you something unexpected and somebody has to make the call on the spot.

Kitchen & Bath Remodeling questions in Longview
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Longview, WA?
A bathroom in a 1920s to 1950s Longview house depends on what is behind the wall more than on the tile. Galvanized supply, cast iron drains and a soft subfloor each move the number. I tell you up front what gets checked and what the range is if it needs replacing. Send photos and dimensions for a written estimate.
Can you convert a tub to a walk-in shower?
Yes. The drain usually moves, the floor gets built to slope correctly, and the waterproofing under the tile goes in as a system. That is the part that decides whether it is still good in fifteen years.
Do you install shower doors and replace vanities, or only full remodels?
Both. Shower door installs, vanity and countertop swaps, tile repair and toilet replacement are regular jobs, along with full kitchen and bath remodels.
Can you open my kitchen up to the dining room?
Usually. Some of those walls are carrying the roof and some are not, and that gets figured out before demo. If it is bearing, a header and posts take the load and the wall still comes out.
