Cathlamet, Washington
Remodeling Contractor in Cathlamet, WA
Remodeling contractor taking whole house work in Cathlamet and on Puget Island, with no trip charge. A remodel is the job that gets put off longest out here, because it takes a contractor showing up day after day and that is exactly what is hard to get.

A whole house remodel is weeks of showing up, which is why it gets quoted at a premium out here or never called back on at all. I take Cathlamet work as part of my regular service area and I do not add a trip charge. I also schedule it in stretches rather than scattered afternoons, so rooms are not sitting torn open waiting on somebody to make the drive.
The planning matters more here than the carpentry does. A job run loosely turns into a series of trips for one forgotten part, and out here every one of those costs a day. The way it gets run instead is that the layout is settled up front, materials are ordered as a set, and the work is sequenced before anything comes apart. That is the difference between three weeks without a kitchen and six.
The housing stock is older and it holds the usual surprises. Small closed rooms where the wall you want gone may or may not be carrying load, and that gets determined before demo rather than during it. Original plumbing can be galvanized supply that has closed up from the inside, and drains can be cast iron. Soft floor at a toilet or tub means the subfloor is gone and sometimes the joist with it. None of it is visible until a wall or a floor is open.
Well and septic are common out here and on a whole house job they set limits. A septic system is permitted for a certain number of bedrooms and a certain load, so adding a bathroom or finishing a basement with a bedroom in it can push past what the drain field was designed for. That gets checked before anything is promised. Hard water will mark up new tile and glass in a way that looks like poor workmanship and is not, and it is worth handling as part of the project.
Additions and finishing unused space are both worth looking at here, because the alternative is moving and there is not much to move to. Space that already has a roof over it is the cheapest square footage you will ever add.
Electrical and plumbing go to licensed trades. Tile, framing, finish carpentry and the running of the job are mine. Thirty years, on the job every day.
Save yourself the wait
Send me photos of the rooms and rough dimensions, tell me what you want changed, and let me know if you are on a well or septic. I will come back with a layout, and I will come out to look at no charge.
