Oung Seng Project
Longview, WA
James Hurula Construction is getting to work on a concrete pad replacement project, bringing a larger, properly engineered slab to replace an existing one that had run its course. The goal is a durable, well-prepared surface built to last — starting from the ground up with careful demolition, solid subgrade work, and quality concrete installation. This is the early stage of the project, and the team is ready to deliver results worth being proud of.
Scope of Work
James Hurula Construction will remove the existing 20x18 concrete pad and haul the demolished concrete debris off site. The work area will be cleared as needed to access the pad, and demolition will be performed in a controlled manner to break up and remove the existing slab. Disposal of the existing concrete is included as part of the preparation phase for the new, larger pad.
After the existing pad is removed, the new 24x25 pad area will be laid out and prepared. A minimum of 2 inches of dirt will be excavated from the new pad footprint to reach a solid subgrade, and the excavated dirt will be hauled off site. The subgrade will be compacted to create a firm, stable base, as this preparation is one of the most important parts of the concrete work and directly affects the long-term performance of the slab.
Once the subgrade is ready, James Hurula Construction will place approximately 2 inches of gravel base over the prepared area and compact it thoroughly. 2x4 forms will be set to establish the finished pad size and shape. Reinforcement will then be installed using rebar laid out on an approximately 30-inch grid to help strengthen the slab and reduce movement-related cracking.
The new concrete pad will be poured at approximately 4 inches thick over the prepared and compacted base. Fiber additive will be used in the concrete for added strength. During finishing, control joints will be hand cut into the wet concrete using a joint tool, and the surface will receive a broom finish suitable for exterior use and improved traction.
At completion, the work area will be cleaned of construction debris related to this scope. Forms will be stripped when appropriate, removed materials will be hauled off, and the finished pad will be left clean and ready for normal curing. James Hurula Construction will complete the project in a workmanlike manner under WA# JAMESHC764LM.
James Hurula Construction is committed to completing this project in a workmanlike manner, leaving behind a clean, finished pad the customer can count on for years to come. Licensed in Washington under JAMESHC764LM, the team takes pride in doing the job right from preparation through final cleanup.
